Rome Travel Guide

Naples is the capital city of the Campania region and the Province of Naples. This urban center is one of the most wonderful cities in Italy. Its metropolitan area is the second most populated in Italy and one of the biggest in Europe. It is situated in the middle of the volcano, Vesuvius and a separate volcanic area, the Campi Flegrei.

Some tourist guides make a comment than the city is contaminated, violent and dangerous city. Perhaps it is so, but this shouldn't demoralize anyone from visiting it. Sure you have to be careful here, but don't alarm it's not so unsafe.

The city has a loud relation with pizza, because it was conceived in the city. A strong element of Neapolitan culture which has had ample reaching effects is music, including the invention of the romantic guitar and the mandolin as well as strong contributions to opera and folk standards. There are celebrated characters and figures who have come to symbolise Naples; these include the patron saint of the city Januarius, Pulcinella, and the Sirens from the epic Greek poem the Odyssey.

Bay of Naples

A beautiful climate, fantastic sea, and dramatically amazing views - all offered by nature, to be consecutively imprinted by the age-old civilizations which have passed through the gulf abandoning behind them the traces of their art and architecture and infusing the area with aspects of their traditions and culture.

The Bay of Naples is one of the areas with more archaeological, artistic, and monumental works, besides being a land of ample popular traditions, distinguished for the sympathy of the people and their fervor for music, dance, and the dramatic arts. From small, virtually unknown, villages to the resonant city of Naples and the colorful towns of Sorrento and Pompei, the bay composes a sublime display of unique and notable panoramas, a continuum of past history and culture; with its churches, cloisters and monuments and famous traditions.
